A great MADRESSA experience

Madrasah or Madressa is an Arabic word meaning school, or place of learning. It is a tradition that started very early on in Islam because of the special emphasis placed on acquiring knowledge.

Our current madressa has evolved from the fine tradition that our forefathers started in our countries of origin and continued later on with our migration to the West. Currently, most madaris in the West operate on weekends. Ours operates once a week, on Sundays, and runs from Kindergarten to Class 11, teaching students the important subjects of Akhlaq (Practice of virtue, morality and manners), Fiqh / Aqaid (Islamic Law), History and the reading and understanding of our holy book, the Quran. These learnings, distill in them the important values of good manners, kindness, respect, discouraging violence and always promoting a peaceful environment – all qualities of being a good muslim.

While Islamic education should, and, in most cases, does begin at home, it is formally and systematically conducted through Madressa. Thus the Madressa plays a major role in developing Islamic identity of our children.
